Terms of use

This is a draft. It describes how the app actually works, but it has not been read by a lawyer.

Last updated: 24 September 2026

What this app is

A guide to Hampi, and a directory of people who work there. It introduces you to a guide, driver, guesthouse or restaurant, and then steps back.

No money passes through this app. Nothing is booked, nothing is paid, no price is set. A "booking" here is a request to be contacted about a date. What you agree, and what you pay, is between you and them.

What we check, and what we do not

Partners are asked for identity and, where the law requires one, a licence — a guide's registration with the Department of Tourism, a vehicle's papers. A person reads those before a listing goes live. A verified badge means those papers were seen and looked genuine on that day.

It does not mean we vouch for the service, the driving, the cleanliness of a room or the accuracy of a price. We are not a party to what you agree.

Using it

Be accurate about who you are and when you will arrive. A guide who blocks a morning for somebody who does not turn up has lost that morning.

Do not: impersonate anybody, list a place you have no right to, post photographs that are not yours, or use the app to harass anyone. Reviews should be about a visit you actually made.

An account may be suspended for any of the above, and a listing taken down.

If a partner is listed and should not be

Every listing has a way to report it, and every claimed place can be disputed by somebody who says it is theirs. A person reads both.

Safety

Some places in this app are unlit, unfenced, unsupervised and dangerous. The water at Sanapur is deep and people have drowned there. The rock above Anegundi has no railing. The advisories on those places are written to be read, and following them is your responsibility.

The emergency numbers in the app are the national ones, read from government listings. Local numbers for Hampi — a police post, a hospital — are added only once somebody has dialled each one from Hampi itself, and until then the app shows none rather than one that might not answer. In an emergency, dial 112.

Content

The monument text and photographs are ours or used under a Creative Commons licence, and every photograph carries its attribution. Map data is OpenStreetMap, under the Open Database Licence. Photographs you upload stay yours; you give us permission to show them in the app.

Liability

The app is provided as it is. We do not warrant that a listing is available, a price is current, or a monument is open. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for what happens between you and somebody you met through it.

Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot be limited by law.

Law

Governed by the laws of India, with jurisdiction in Karnataka.
