About this place
Standing on a low rock mound between the Chandrasekhara Temple and the Octagonal Bath, this modest shrine is dedicated to Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music and the arts. Though small and now empty of its idol, it is finely built in the Vijayanagara style, with a compact sanctum, a pillared porch and delicate carvings around the doorway. Its raised setting gives quiet views across the scattered ruins of the urban core, and because it lies off the main tourist trail you will often have it entirely to yourself.
