About this place
Facing the parade ground shared with the Elephant Stables, the long arcaded building traditionally called the Guards' Quarters now serves as an Archaeological Survey of India display gallery. Stone sculptures, hero stones, guardians and carved architectural fragments recovered from the Hampi ruins line its shaded corridors around an internal court. The collection is smaller than the main Kamalapura museum, but its open architectural setting and immediate proximity to the Elephant Stables make it an easy, rewarding addition to a Zenana Enclosure visit.
Good to know
- The gallery sits beside the Elephant Stables inside the ticketed Zenana Enclosure heritage zone; retain your same-day ASI ticket.
- Gallery access can close earlier than the surrounding grounds or pause for conservation work, so follow on-site signs.
- The stone objects are open to the corridor: do not touch, lean on or climb around the display plinths.
