About this place
The Ruined Gateway with Lofty Pillars stands on the western side of the Vittala Temple chariot street, where a processional route once entered the temple precinct. All that survives is a striking line of slender granite pillars and fragments of the gateway platform, enough to show how grand the approach must have been. The site is listed by the Archaeological Survey of India as monument N-KA-B79-d.
